Access to Finance Seminar a Huge success

Haworths joined forces with Forbes Solicitors and North West business support service Business Link, to present a major East Lancashire seminar on accessing finance for local businesses.

Nearly 150 businesses registered for the event which was held at the Stanley House Hotel in Mellor and was free of charge for all attending companies.

Haworths started the presentation with a basic overview of the state of the economy and what had been happening to traditional sources of business funding; Haworths Director Paul Spencer offered some insight into the ‘real’ appetite of the banks to finance developing companies.

Gaynor Dykes of Business Links ‘Access to Finance’ team offered detailed information on the various loan and grant schemes available throughout the North West and facilitated through Business Link. Robert Williams Haworths Corporate Finance specialist gave an overview of the different types of finance that businesses should be looking for in particular circumstances and what lenders were looking for with regard to business plans and how to present them.

Finally Forbes gave an insight into the legal formalities that should be observed and understood before any investment grant or loan is considered.

Mark Schofield Managing Director of Haworth’s commented “the event was extremely well received and represented a clear insight into what is quite a complex subject – all the information on all sources of funding in one room. – This is the type of value we like to add to our offer to clients to help them make informed decisions.
